Hampshire Team Championships (Round 2).

Today (November 4th), we participated in the second round of the Hampshire Judo Team Championships. Last month we topped the table, this month our fortunes were reversed and we came last on the day and have slipped to Third on the overall standings table.

Match 1 versus Fleming Park.

Last month we won a close 3-2 match against Fleming Park, this month they beat us 5-0 in the opening match of the day. The Fleming Park team manage to rack up five Ippon wins in a row.

Match 2 versus Southampton University.

The “derby match” proved to be unsuccessful for us, we were unable to repeat last months 4-1 victory and everything was reversed with Southampton University making it a mirror image and winning 1-4

Match 3 versus Holbrook Judo Club.

Our last match was against newcomers Holbrook Judo Club (from Gosport), this was our closest match of the day it turned out. Holbrook took an early lead, then we won one, they took the third and use the fourth. Sadly (for us), Holbrook took the last match leaving us with the wooden spoon after a 3-2 defeat.

Despite the losses, a good day was had by all and some great performances put in by the team. The level of the Team Championships is rising and the numbers growing making it more competitive. We suffered from a few of our regular players being absent who could perhaps have changed some of the results. We hope that everyone will ne back for the third round on December 2nd at St Marys Leisure Centre (3pm).

But it is not all doom and gloom, we stil hold third position on the overall table for the championships, which looks like this:
