The club recently participated in the second round of the Hampshire Team Championships. Our men formed a combined team with Southampton University and managed to secure third place whilst our women again won the day.
This month it was the turn of our rookie sensation Ionela Nane to claim first place in the female open weight event. Under the watchful eye of team mate Laura Day (last months winner) Ionela fought her way past the other athletes to claim top spot when she reversed last months result against Eleanor Stephens of AWE Judo Club.
Sadly as we had to share points with Southampton University, we slipped one place in the overall standings and now sit 1 point behind Southampton University in fourth place.
This is the second month in a row that we have claimed the top position in the female category, so we are building a reputation as a strong training centre for female Judo players! The next round is on December 1st and we hope to field a full team and claw our way higher in the standings!
